It's no wonder it caught the attention of some big name YouTubers, and why, as a result, it spent a large portion of its first week out of Early Access in Steam's top sellers list. This time it's a slightly experimental sandbox by the independent Canadian developer Brilliant Game Studios, titled Ultimate Epic Battle. Attention, attention - Steam offers yet another game for free. ![]() Experienced as a bite-sized chunk of surreal action, it's incredibly effective. Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator, an indie sandbox game from Brilliant Game Studios, is up for grabs completely free on Steam for the next few days. It's less a game than a tool for generating ridiculous combat scenarios. This is Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator at its most effective. Andy is called over, but has to leave because he can't deal with the single-digit framerate as my CPU struggles to process the inadvisable number of angry, flightless birds I've created. The wide array of troops and artillery you can deploy in battle make the game so much more fun, because sometimes I use them to re-enact famous battles. Samuel turns to ask me something, but the question is lost as he notices the hundreds of dead penguins littering the battlefield. Epic battle simulator’s cartoonish graphics makes me think that this is the best of the series of epic battle simulators. The ranged fighters do well for a while, but the mass of writhing penguin flesh swings around to flank and subsume. ![]()
